Buying:
In today’s competitive online marketplace, the ease of which something can be purchased has become paramount in providing the service we want to our buyers. As such, we at Hansons Hertfordshire offer a variety of ways in which you can bid to make the process as easy as possible. Simply click on the sale you would like to bid on, register to bid following the instructions so that you have a paddle number to bid with and then follow one of the methods below to bid on your lot:
1 – Leave a commission bid – Know how much you are willing to bid up to and want to resist the temptation to bid more? Leave your bid with us and it will automatically be bid on your behalf. Once registered, click on the lot you wish to bid on and enter your maximum bid, this will be confirmed and then you just need to wait and see if you are the lucky winner!
2 – Online bidding: Once registered for a sale, you are welcome to watch the live stream of the sale at hansonsauctioneers.co.uk and have the option of clicking to bid.
3 – Telephone bids: Wish you could attend but don’t quite have the time? We will gladly book you a phone line and give you a call shortly before the lot you are interested in comes up for sale. One of our team will relay your bids over the phone in real time.
4 – Bid in person: Come and see us at our Royston saleroom! Long gone are the days of jam-packed salerooms with the advent of online bidding, but there is still an atmosphere and excitement that can only be captured by coming down and watching an auction live. We will handle your bidder registration and provide you with a bidding paddle for the traditional auction experience. All bids will incur a buyer’s premium on top of the hammer price and potentially additional costs dependent on the bidding platform being used so please do familiarize yourself pre-sale with the relevant costs.
Selling:
We aim to take the mystery out of the process of selling at auction. Once you have received your valuation, whether online or in person, leave your item with us and we will take it from there! We provide detailed cataloguing and photography of your item in preparation for sale, expert auctioneering on the day of sale to ensure that we get the best price possible and will pay direct into your account a month from the date of sale. You won’t be charged a penny up front, with all of our costs being deducted from the proceeds of sale. Our standard commission rates are as below:
Seller’s commission 17.5% + VAT
Lotting Fee £5 + VAT

- Can I view items? - Yes you can view items prior to an auction. Please feel free to send us an email, or give us a call to arrange a time and date.
